Rainbow Slide

The Board of Directors voted in May to purchase the slide directly from a manufacturing company in China. It arrived in June and was picked up at the airport after spending several days in customs. The total price was about a third of the cost of similar children’s themed slides from other vendors.

It was transported by trailer to the north access gate at the pool. It weighs around 200 pounds so it was quite a feat to lift it off the trailer, over the fence and into the kiddie pool. Four volunteers were recruited to help get it in the pool.

The slide does not have a water supply, which means that it doesn’t spray water onto the run of the slide. But after observing the kids using it, the action on the slide is fine without the need for additional water.

As of now, the slide is not bolted to the bottom of the pool. It seems to move around a little with moderate to heavy use but hasn’t been a problem. The staff will assist the Board in determining if it needs to be bolted in place in the future.

All four steps that led up to the top landing have a textured pattern, which prevent little feet from slipping. The arched sides of the rainbow act as handrails for our youngest members.

The rainbow slide was an instance hit with the children and the parents that spend much of their time in the kiddie pool area at Sungate.
