Why Your Voluntary Dues Matter
Because Sungate is a voluntary association run entirely by your neighbors, we sometimes hear the question: “Why should I pay dues if they aren’t mandatory?” The answer is simple: your contribution is a direct investment in the beauty, connection, and value of our shared home. Supporting Sungate comes with meaningful benefits for you and the entire community.
Here is exactly what your dues make possible:
Keeping Sungate Beautiful: Dues fund the landscaping, mowing, and general upkeep of our neighborhood entrances and park areas. A major bonus: the HOA covers the mowing and trash cleanup along 51st Street and Sheridan Road, tasks that would otherwise fall on the shoulders of adjacent property owners! We also help fund vital repairs and maintenance for our boundary walls and fences.
Building Neighborhood Traditions: Your contributions directly fund the events that make Sungate feel like a true community. This includes our annual 4th of July parade, the fall block party, and two community-wide yard sale weekends each year (followed immediately by access to free dumpsters provided through a city cleanup program).
Exclusive Pool Perks: Association members enjoy guaranteed pool membership at a specially discounted rate.
Staying Connected: Dues cover the essential administrative costs of keeping everyone informed. This includes moderating the Sungate Neighbors Facebook page and printing this quarterly newsletter, which our volunteers hand-deliver to every single home in the neighborhood.
The Bigger Picture
Beyond these direct perks, participating in the HOA actively strengthens our overall property values and the long-term appeal of the neighborhood. Well-maintained entrances, clean common areas, and consistent upkeep create a fantastic first impression for visitors and potential buyers alike. When more neighbors chip in, Sungate is able to invest even more into improvements that keep our community attractive, safe, and welcoming. By paying your dues, you aren’t just funding a service-you are enhancing our everyday quality of life and protecting the future value of your home.
Neighborhood Pride
Taking pride in our neighborhood begins with taking care of our property. The City of Tulsa helps by enforcing nuisance and zoning ordinances that prevent neighborhood deterioration and maintain safety and health standards. Residents can report potential violations online, by calling 311, or by emailing Tulsa311@cityoftulsa.org.
