4th of July Celebration 2023
The tradition continues with another 4th of July Celebration at Sungate! Join us for a fun day in honor of our nation’s independence.
We have a full schedule of pool races and games throughout the day. Enjoy delicious food specials and complimentary watermelon slices. The concession stand will be open but as always, you are welcome to bring you own food and drinks. Please no glass and no alcohol.
Food tickets will be available for purchased at the front gate for specialty food and treats. Remember to bring small bills to help staff make change quickly. We also take cards.
Schedule of Events
Everything kicks off with the bike/wagon decorating contest at 9 am, followed by the children’s parade at 9:30.
Pool opens at 10 am with lunch items being available around 11 am. Annie’s Tropical Sno will be serving shaved ice from 1 to 3 pm. Enjoy fun swim races and pool games throughout the day.
Stick around for free watermelon at 3 pm and the finale at 4 pm. Pool closes at 5 pm so our staff and volunteers can enjoy time with their families.

Chair & Table Reservations
Reserve up to two (2) chairs per family membership for $5 per chair. Or families may reserve one (1) table under a tent for $40.
Stop by the front gate and chose a chair or table. Payment must be receive in order to secure your reservation.
Only a percentage of all the deck chairs and tables will be reservable. The remaining chairs and tables will be available on a first come, first served basis.
Reserved chairs and table will be held until 11 am, at which time reserved chairs will be released for others to use.
Families may bring their own camping/folding chairs.
Bike Decoration Contest & Parade
Help your kids decorate those bikes and wagons for the Most Festive Bike Contest. Judging begins at 9 a.m. in Sungate Park. The half mile children’s parade begins at 9:30 a.m. and wraps up in plenty of time before the pool opens at 10 a.m.
Parade Route
The parade route hasn’t changed. The map shows the route, starting from Sungate Park and walking West onto E 54th Street, North on 67th E Place to 53rd Place and stopping at the pool at 70th E Place.
Pool Hours
The Sungate Pool will be open for bonus hours on Monday, July 3 from 3 to 8 pm.
The pool opens at 10 a.m. for a day of fun pool games, swim races and food specials. The pool closes at 5 p.m. so our families can enjoy time with their families. The pool will open 1 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5.
