2022 Pool Season is Behind Us

As we leave the summer pool season behind, I wanted to take this opportunity to discuss your board of directors plans for the pool.

We are aware that the surface of both the pools needs attention. We are planning, after the pool closes for the season, to engage a contractor to completely refinish the sides and bottoms of both pools and to replace the tile around the edges. This is one of the major maintenance jobs that has to be done about every 10 years on a commercial pool this size.  The preliminary estimates we’ve received for this project are more than $50,000.

We are still looking for the right contractor to complete the roof project, we believe this will complete the look of the pool building. The intention is to build a gable roof over the flat roof so that both the north and south ends of the building match each other.  We don’t have a good estimate for the cost of this project, but it is likely between $40,000 and $50,000.

as a non-profit, we are obliged to use any surpluse funds to improve or repair our equipment in the pool, building and grounds.

We have been saving and investing some excess earnings (is there such a thing as ‘excess earnings’?) so as to be able to do these projects without debt.

I would invite anyone who is interested in learning more about these projects to contact me directly, or come to a board meeting.

Meetings are typically held on the 4th Monday each  month, at the pool at 6:30 p.m.  If you have an interest in serving on the all-volunteer board, please contact me directly.
